Judith Emery currently holds the rank of 3rd Dan in Ju Jitsu & 1st Dan Taekwon-do & Brown Belt BJJ (Brazilian Jiu Jitsu). Judith began her Martial Arts career over 25 years ago first training in Taekwon-Do ITF, where she competed very successfully in tournaments, winning Gold both as an individual & as part of a team.
Judith began studying Ju Jitsu after apprehending a burglar in her home & has worked Frontline security where her skills have been tested & proven effective.
She began training in BJJ under Colin Howells and was awarded her Blue Belt by him. She now trains under Alex De Souza and was awarded her Brown Belt by Alex.
Judith is a former secondary school teacher; she gave up this career to focus on being a Martial Arts Instructor & founding Winchester School Of Martial Arts.
Judith runs all classes. She is also qualified as an England Boxing BOX instructor.

Martial Arts Classes take place at Sparsholt College Sports Centre . There is ample parking on site - students are asked to park in the College carpark named Sainsbury. The way to the Sports Centre is signposted.

Every student is encouraged to reach their own potential rather than directly compete against other students. A student of WSMA learns more than a martial art/Jiu Jitsu - they learn skills that will enable them to be a more positive & successful individual in life.
As a student of WSMA you will learn the traditional values of the Martial Arts, such as self-discipline, respect, balance-in-life as you learn practical Self-defense skills.
Martial Arts For Ages 7-11 & Kids & Teens Jiu Jitsu
Getting active, making friends and learning an awesome martial art/self-defense is the best way to spend time.
Ju Jitsu ( jiu jitsu) is one of the oldest of martial arts that many others are derived from. It is the best martial arts for self-defense - for students learn an all round skill.
Students learn to strike effectively, throw and how to defend themselves should the fight go to the ground (which nearly all do) and more specific self-defense techniques.
Martial Arts/ self-defense For Ages of 3– 6.
Learning martial arts is an important life skill not just for boys but also for girls. Ju Jitsu is the perfect martial art to develop self defence skills as it involves learning striking skills, throws, pins downs and how to defend against these things. Just as important, it is great fun to learn!

Studies have shown that martial arts classes improve school grades. Physical activity but particularly martial arts really do help to ensure good exam results.
Girls are strong & powerful in many ways. Improving our strength, core stability & flexibility from a young age will have lasting positive benefits to our body long term - while learning an important life skill from learning jiu jitsu
Training in martial arts also teaches you the importance of commitment which leads to a meaningful sense of accomplishment, helping our mental health & helping to instil a can do attitude.

Competition - it’s true, it is hard. We all get nervous, but this experience; overcoming the nerves, stepping into the mats, having the support of your team no matter the outcome- it builds so much confidence making BJJ (Brazilian Jiu Jitsu) a great Martial Art to build confidence
BJJ (Brazilian Jiu Jitsu) is a great sport for girls to take up. It is a martial art that focuses on throws and groundwork with the emphasis on technique rather than strength, offering a valid self-defense that actually works. It's also a fun workout!
